What is travertine stone?

Travertine is a sedimentary limestone rock formed by the precipitation of calcium carbonate around hydrothermal springs. Its structure is porous, with natural cavities and veining that vary from one slab to the next. The dominant tones are beige, cream and taupe, sometimes tinged with ochre or grey depending on the quarry. Used in architecture since antiquity, it now features widely in contemporary, mineral-led interiors.

Does travertine age well?

Like any natural limestone, travertine develops a patina over time. This patina gradually deepens the stone's natural contrasts without damaging it.
